Mother’s Day!

A great Mother’s Day was had by all . . .

Our morning started out as many Sunday’s do at the Pancake House – for the first time in a year we were seated adjacent to the Beckman’s (finally!). Libby and I shared our usual and for the first time Cooper enjoyed a short stack, too. The girls (Libby, Nanny and me) ran some errands and then went to see Rio. After a quick trip to the mall, we returned home and spent the afternoon/evening planting flowers. I still have a bit to do but we got almost everything done

Libby fell asleep in the car and stayed there for a while, but spent the afternoon running around the neighborhood with friends. Cooper loved “helping” to plant…he’s fascinated with his big sister’s gardening tools and luckily stayed in one place while outside.

Mike made a delicious dinner and dessert.

One of the funniest things happened towards the end of the day, close to bedtime. Libby, Mike and I were telling each other our favorite parts of the day and I was telling Libby how much I loved the gifts she made me at school , one of which was a heart-shaped jewelry box she painted. Libby responded, “I’m so glad you liked the jewelry box even though it didn’t have any jewelry in it.” I got a good chuckle out of that and told her maybe next year ;)

skinned chin

Cooper has his first (of many, I’m sure) “injuries”. Of course I was standing right next to him and he took a tumble on the front porch. – bumped into Libby’s fake dog that lives on our porch. He didn’t fuss/cry too much and I didn’t notice the scrape until I saw a bit of blood on his shirt.

I had to include the picture below because (1) Cooper loves to brush his hair and (2) everyone is always telling me Cooper looks like my Dad…I never really saw it until I looked at this picture and there it was. . . Terry starring right back at my…maybe it’s the side part? maybe it’s the short sleeve gingham button down shirt? I’m not sure but WOW!!

So HOT!

As it tends to do in the midwest, the weather took a wild swing and we went from having the heat on to putting the air on in less than 1 weeks time…it was over 85 today! To celebrate . . .we got out the sprinkler. Cooper was intrigued and seemed to enjoy himself…he also seemed to enjoy the dirt, the hose . . .

Cooper-dooper!

My last few posts have been missing Mr. Cooper Michael – not sure how that can be as he is the star attraction around these parts . . . he certainly lives up to Libby’s nickname for him “MENACE BOY”! Here’s a little update on our little guy:

- finally sleeping through the night again…he’s been fighting head colds and teeth for quite a few months, but I’m happy to report he’s healthy and his smiles have returned!

-Cooper is typically the first one up at our house each morning, usually waking between 6:45 and 7:15 am.

- Just last week Cooper started eating finger good exclusively. He seems to love everything he tries, but like his sister and Dad, he’s partial to anything with CHEESE.

- The Coop-dawg is so close to walking, but still prefers to crawl or walk with the help of something. This surprises me because he is one determined fellow and tends to have strong opinions about things.

- He loves to be outside and go on walks.

- We have so much fun together as a family of four and Libby often says out of the blue, “I’m so glad I have a brother and his name is Cooper!” . . .if you recall, when asked this time last year, she was adamant that she wanted a sister named Melody!

- Cooper is beginning to understand and follow directions when we talk to him.

- It’s hard to tell in the photo below, but our little guy has the exact same color hair as his big sister much to our surprise!

LILACS!

Is there anything better than the smell of lilacs?! I think not! We planted these the summer after Libby was born: no blooms the first two years. ONE lonely bloom last year on the bush to the left; THREE blooms this year on the bush to the right. BABY STEPS and patience!
