Sleeping with Cooper

It’s not what you think . . .

Nanny gave us one of Hallmark’s interactive storybooks about a bear named Cooper! We received a book, Cooper’s Big Bear Hug along with Cooper the Bear. We love reading the books and have Cooper-bear (as we have to call him) answer. While the gift was for Cooper, Libby has spent the past few nights sleeping with Cooper-bear.

I love that I can take flash photography and Libby doesn’t wake up.

It’s a beautiful day!

Libby and Cooper in the double jogger for the first time on Sunday – they loved it! Mike, however, was exhausted after pushing 65+ lbs for 30 minutes. Libby kept shouting “faster! faster! run, run as fast as you can you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man.” Mike did his best to oblige!

Cooking up a storm

I spent Sunday in the kitchen while Mike and Libby sampled their way through Costco (and loaded up on groceries!) and Cooper took a rock-star nap. I made the following:

Taco Soup
Chicken and Rice Casserole – I’m not a huge casserole fan and looking at the ingredients I would never have tried this BUT I LOVE this casserole! Two different people made it for us when Cooper was born and I couldn’t get enough. I highly recommend it.
White Chicken Chili
Creamy Chicken Enchiladas

Student of the Week

Despite the ice and snow storms, Libby made it to school 2 days last week and it’s a good thing as she was Student of the Week (aka Star Student). She had to make a poster and present it to the class, bring in a toy to show the class (she brought Bitty and Bobby) and pick books for the class to read (she chose Pinkalicious and Horton Hatches an Egg). Below is her completed poster. She decided on what pictures she wanted on the poster and told be what to write by each picture.
Clockwise from left to write: Bitty Baby (her favorite toy/dolly), Mac N Cheese (her favorite food), two stickers of Fancy Nancy (books she likes to read), photos of Libby with the princess’ and fairies from our visit to Disney, pictures of family/big sister to Cooper, ballet and dress-up pictures, horseback riding pictures and a few very small pictures of movies she likes to watch (Beauty and the Beast, Princess and the Frog, Tinkerbell)

What’s been going on?!

Last week we were stuck in the house . . .from Monday night until Friday. It was a long week but we had good company (Nanny and Mike was home for two days). We had fun . . .here’s what we were up to:

- baking, baking and more baking: choc-oat chip cookies, blueberry muffins and pink rice crispy treats.

- crafts: Libby “wrote” her own Valentines, painted water colors, made heart shaped crayons for her preschool classmates.

- Cooper has turned into a little man . . .transitioned to two naps, plays well by himself – especially loves anything with wheels (matchbox cars). Cooper is so totally in love with his big sister – I just love sitting back and watching them interact; he lights up the moment he hears her voice. We got out the excersaucer and Cooper thrashes around the house recklessly and loves it. He’s not crawling (and I’m not encouraging it!), but pushes himself backwards and does push-ups of sorts (with his bum high up in the air). He’s 7 months old and wearing 12-18 month clothes and is over 20 lbs – I love my bruiser so much.

Cooper, however, does not love his big boy car seat and/or his big boy pea coat. Since he’s over 20 lbs, we moved into our Britax and Cooper is not a fan. :( Hopefully he’ll get used to it soon.

I’ve been training for an 8k so my nights have been spent at the gym and not posting to the blog – I’ll try to do better! I’ve also discovered Mad Men . . .so when I’m not on the treadmill, I’m hanging with Don :)
