Halloween Part I

Libby has begged and pleaded for a Belle dress since our spring break trip to visit her cousins and Avery had one. I (foolishly) thought Santa would bring a Belle dress but one day we were in Costco and there it was – a Belle dress. She. HAD. to. have. it. and I really wanted to get it for my sweet girl! We bought it at the beginning of September and the first time she wore it were for the Halloween festivities we’ve had all week – she was so patient and so excited!

Dad’s Home!

Always an exciting time in our house. . .this is such a busy week for us – Cooper’s 4 mo check up (details soon), pumpkin carving, book club, fall festival at Libby’s preschool, Mom’s Group Halloween party, friends coming to town, walking tacos and trick or treating!

Resemblance

We are often asked if Libby and Cooper look similar. Sometimes I see it, other times not so much. This photo was taken tonight and I think it’s very easy to see the resemblance. The jury is still out on Cooper’s hair color . . .I often see shades of brown, blond and a little red in there, too.

P.S. Cooper has started consistently sleeping 10-12 hours at night and we are loving it!

From the mouth of a 3 year old

Libby continues to bring a smile to our faces day in and day out. Here are some recent quotes/stories from our sweet girl:

-”I only want to wear clothes with horses on them.” She referring to Ralph Lauren Polo Horses…quite the fashionista we have on our hands.

- ” MARSHALL DUCK”. Libby started using the phrase Marshall Duck a few months ago and we’ve been trying to figure out what it means and why she’s saying it ever since. THE MYSTERY HAS BEEN SOLVED. At some point Libby has been exposed to the song MACHO DUCK and thinks it’s about Marshall Duck. We have no idea where Libby heard the song and her lips are sealed. I’m guessing she heard it at Mike’s parents house – they have a lot of old kids records she likes to listen to when she’s there.

- “He has a funny va-jay-jay” . . . she’s been watching me change Cooper’s diaper for 3.5 months and has just noticed things look different “down there” :)

- Since Cooper’s arrival we have been pointing out Mini Cooper’s whenever we see them. The other day Libby asked “Where are the Mini Libby’s?”.

- Just tonight we were on a short walk looking for leaves for Libby to bring to school and one of our neighbors stopped to say hi. My Mom was over for dinner and Libby was so proud and excited to show her off, exclaiming “this is my big, BIG Nanny.” My Mom wasn’t too pleased by that intro :)

Turkey Run Fun!

On Sunday, we took our second annual trip to Turkey Run State Park with the Pfister’s. This trip and tradition hold a special place in our hearts because last year I found out i was pregnant the morning before we left on the hike (11-1-09). How fun that two, well behaved, little ones (Cooper and Calvin – pictured below) were able to join us on the hike this year. We had a great time picnicing, hiking and catching up with good friends. Unlike last year, Libby hiked along with us (she was in a backpack for a lot of the hike last year) and did a great job. We stayed away from the most challenging routes this year, but still saw some amazing fall scenery.

Fun-Filled Fall Weekend

Last weekend we took advantage of the 80 degree fall (?) weather and returned to Stuckey Farms to pick more apples, find the perfect pumpkin and enjoy apple cider slushies. This time we brought our favorite UDayton student, Miss Lauren, who was home for fall break. After the farm, we had lunch at Plum’s before Mike had to head to work.

Sooo behind

We’ve had some fun-filled, jam-packed weekends and I’m so far behind!

Mike’s birthday celebration continued through the first weekend in October as we celebrated with Sam and Henry’s family (we affectionately refer to Henry as Libby’s beau – they have too much in common . . .they are destined to be high school sweet hearts!!). Their Dad, Tim, shares the same birthday as Mike. Libby had a great time playing with the boys while Emily made us a delicious dinner, including the Barefoot Contessa’s chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting. Thanks for a great night, friends!
