Practice Makes Perfect

As I mentioned, our babysitter extraordinaire Heather had a baby a few weeks ago. One afternoon this week Libby and I stopped by to visit Heather, Ian and baby Brielle. Here’s a very somber looking Libby (she fell asleep on the car ride over) holding Brielle.

love this book

I can’t believe I’ve got 8 weeks left in my second pregnancy and I’m just coming across this book. I was searching the web for Mother’s Day gift ideas and thought this was a good one for all of us with child: Margarita Mama: Mocktail Recipes. The link even contains a sample recipe that sound delish! Anyone have any good gift ideas out there? I still have one Mom to buy for. Enjoy!!

Hair Do

Libby’s independent streak continues…today she wanted to do her own hair. Here she is with her hair pulled back in one of my small clips and the shorter hair in front (natural layers) she pulled back with her Tinkerbell bow.

In the photo she and Mike are making gluten-free cookies to bring to our babysitter that just had her first baby!

Status Update

reading: The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb (just finished Time of My Life by Allison Winn Scotch – it was ok.) Also on my nightstand is The Girl Who Played With Fire, sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo that I loved.

eating: you name it! My new favorite find is in the drink department: Arizona’s Arnold Palmer Half Tea Half Lemonade . . . can’t get enough of it! Also trying to perfect making my own sweet tea at home…thanks to the sister in law, I’ve learned the trick is to add the sugar when the tea is still hot -dissolves better.

making: Libby a princess scrap book from our Disney pictures (I’m not a scrapbooker, so I’m faking my way through it!), hair bows

listening to: Not much . . .

planning: for the Hear Indiana Talk, Walk, Run this weekend . . .nesting in full effect: redoing our bedroom, sorting through baby clothes and stuff.

Grocery Store Find

I was excited and then saddened when I saw a bottle of Sangria from Oliver Winery. I stood in front of the display for a good 2 minutes having an internal conversation – should I buy it and be tempted? Should I wait the 3+ months to try it?! It was 80 degrees today and it looked so darn good (I also liked the look of the bottle – cute!). In the end, I decided to hold off. . .maybe I’ll treat myself in August after the baby arrives.

Vacation Day 6

Our last day of vacation was Jackson and Avery’s first day back at school, so we had a low key day, packing and getting ready to fly home. After we picked Avery up from preschool, the girls had a fun time playing dress-up and lip syncing to the Chipmunks Squeakuel Soundtrack. . .it was hilarious to watch!

We had a great visit and can’t wait to see the cousins again this summer when they stop by on their drive to VA/NC. Many thanks to my brother and April for being great hosts and total bargain hunters!!
