recipe to try

I am back and promise to blog more often! It was a crazy few weeks but things should calm down now…Posey made this for me (and many others) while I was in Houston and it was so good!

Upside down Pizza
2 (16oz) packages of ground pork sausage
2 med onions
1 small green bell paper
3 tsp dried basil
1/4 c flour
1 26 oz jar of tomato and basil pasta sauce (I used like a jar and a half)
2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese (I was pretty liberal with this as well)
1 14oz can refrigerated pizza crust dough
1 tbsp olive oil
2tbsp grated parm

Set oven to 425
Cook sausage, bell pepper, onion, and 2tsp basil in a large (very!) Skillet until sausage is crumbly and onions are tender. Drain well. Return mixture to pan and add flour, stir until blended. Stir in pasta sauce. Bring to boil, stirring. Spoon mixture into greased 13×9 baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups of mozzerella cheese. (I used a heavy hand here!)

Unroll dough and cover place on top. Tuck edges into baking dish. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with remaining mozzerella cheese, parm and 1tsp of basil. Bake for 20 min or until golden.

You could really add anything to the mixture. I gave mushrooms a whirl. Yum!
