My parents are in San Francisco celebrating with my brother and his family. Sean and his flight crew received a “major award” last night.

“The [Coast Guard] Foundation’s Annual Pacific Area Awards Dinner will honor members of the Coast Guard for heroism as well as personal and unit excellence. The crew of CG6037 of Sector San Diego will receive the ADM Chester R. Bender Award for heroism. The crew consists of pilot CDR Sean Cross, co-pilot LT Simon Greene, flight mechanic AMT2 John Randolph and rescue swimmer AST3 Robyn Hamilton.”

The award was for a rescue I previously mentioned.

Libby has a new favorite book, Willy the Wimp – it’s such a funny story. I think Mike and I are both glad to get a break from the Princess book that we all (Libby included) have memorized.

I am without my August book club book, The Shack, and have been “forced” to start New Moon.
