Thanksgiving

We had a good Thanksgiving…special thanks to my Mom who made and cooked everything! All in all it was a fun day filled with family and great food. Highlights included: Jeff and Amy joining us with Baby Girl Barron only 48 hours after her birth. . . Libby and I in coordinating skirts….Libby wearing her first set of legwarmers….my parents finalizing plans for their house only about 20 min away….Mike carving his second turkey.

Princess Libby & her vanity

Our good friends passed down this vanity to Libby and she just loves it.  Libby spends a good deal of time each day blow drying her hair, painting her nails and putting on lipstick . . .a scary peak into life in about 12 years!  Thanks for the vanity, Madison and Olivia!

As for the Cinderella dress, I had tried Libby’s Christmas dress on her (to make sure it fit) and she did not want to take it off.  The only way I could get it off of her was to find a fancier dress for her to put on!

weekend

We had a good weekend despite the 40 degree highs – ugh! The zoo was great on Friday – it was sunny and in the 60s. Libby and I saw the dolphin show and walked around to check out all the other animals. Libby was drawn to the carousel this visit – I think she liked the music! We tried the carousel earlier this summer with Jorie, Delaney and Emmerson and Libby wouldn’t sit on the animals – instead clung to me for dear life! When Libby wanted to try again I thought – “hey! a lot can change in 5 months”. . . .not so much. Libby did not want to sit on an animal, but was very happy riding around on the bench along side me! She liked it so much we rode it twice.

Saturday I woke up early and ran a lot of errands. Got some Christmas shopping done, groceries, etc. I came home to unload, have some lunch and then I got my nails done. Mike had a work party on Saturday night (annual casino night and big deal awards – Mike got an award this year – woo hoo!). “Bea” came down to watch Libby and I have no doubt they had a great time. The first thing out of Libby’s mouth on Sunday morning was “Bea?”. I assured her she was still here!

To celebrate Mike’s Mom’s birthday and thank her for babysitting Libby two weekends in a row (Mike’s team at work had a poker party last Saturday night…I played Texas Hold Em for the first time and I won the tournament!!) we went to Traders Point Creamery for an excellent breakfast! After breakfast we did our usual jaunt around the grounds to check out the cows and chickens.

Sunday afternoon Brent and Heather came over to watch the Colts beat the Steelers (sorry, Brent). Heather brought lots of Colts gear (courtesy of her Mom) and Libby had a blast with the pom poms and mini-mega phones!

This morning it was up bright and early for my last week of bootcamp in November!

I’ll post pics soon – have a good week!

Updates

Well, I made it through 2 days of bootcamp…I’m sore but feeling good! The 5:10 am wake up isn’t as bad as I thought and it’s nice to have so much extra time in the mornings. For the first time in I don’t know how long I showered every day this week – lol!

We had a busy week this week…we voted, went to the park, had family pictures taken and enjoyed a nice dinner with Nathan, Helena and Elin on Tuesday. Wednesday I had a dentist appointment (no cavities) and that night I headed to Dinners By Design with Mom’s Club and made 6 dinners we’ll enjoy sometime soon…Tukey and 3 bean chili tonight! Today we had story time at the library and lunch with Dad.

Libby has cut tooth #5 today…you can just see tiny white ridges to the left of her bottom, center tooth. Each tooth she gets she seems to have a different reaction…it was diarrhea this time (hopefully none of you are reading this over dinner). Poor thing…things are starting to “firm” up today.

Libby’s Mom’s Day Out is canceled tomorrow and we’re going to the zoo in the morning assuming the weather cooperates. Everyday this week has been in the 70s, but it’s due to get quite cold this weekend.

Great read

I recently started The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime for my monthly book club read and it is excellent! I highly recommend it – it’s easy to read and very intersting…particularly for anyone interested or affected by autism.

Tomorrow I start my 2 week Indy Adventure bootcamp from 5:30 – 6:30 AM! I’m only doing 2 weeks in November and then will do a 3 week bootcamp in December. A 5 am wake up call is certainly an adjustment for me, but I’m looking forward to the challenge! Assuming I can still move my arms on Thursday, I’ll let you know how it goes…wish me luck.

Hot potato! Hot potato!

I’ve tried two different varieties of Ore-Ida Steam n Mash and they are excellent! 12 minutes in the microwave add some fxin’s, hand mash and you’re good to go. We’ve tried Three Cheese and Sweet Potato and they’re delicious.

On a side note, I took a recommendation from Betsy (the dietitian) and tried the Green Giant microwavable brussel sprouts and they were quite good! It was the first time I’ve eaten a brussel sprout and I liked them. Another quick and easy side option.

Halloween

Our Halloween celebration started on Thursday night when we carved our pumpkins. Libby loves “punt-kins” and had a ball assisting in the carving. She wiped the pumpkin, used a spoon to help scrape the insides, showed Mike where to draw the eyes, nose and mouth on the pumpkin and even sat on Mike’s lap with her hand on his as he carved.

Friday’s weather was amazing – it had to be 75 degrees! I got Libby dressed in her ladybug costume (sorry about the tease below) around 5:15 and soon our corner was full of kids in costume enjoying “walking tacos” with their families. The trick or treating started a little after 6 pm. You can see a video of Libby going to her first house here. Libby quickly caught onto trick or treating and went to 6-7 houses on our corner. She had a great time giving out candy with Mike and I, too. She was a little scared of anyone with a mask but I don’t blame her! After the trick or treaters started to slow down, she enjoyed playing with sidewalk chalk on our neighbors driveway with the rest of the kids.

As you can see from the photo below, Libby started to get a little slap happy as her bed time came and went. She grabbed 6 year old Mallory’s Hanna Montana wig and was running around tossing her luscious, long blond locks!
