Congratulations, Cousin!

My cousin Garrett and his girlfriend Colleen got engaged this past weekend while on vacation in Florida and we couldn’t be more excited…it’s been 5 years since our family has had a wedding and that was mine!  We’re looking forward to celebrating with Garrett, Colleen and family soon.  Libby did a little coloring to celebrate:

In the Park

The official photographer of the Zionsville Lions was nice enough to snap some photos of Libby (and Mike) when we were at the concert at Lions Park on Sunday…she was also nice enough to send them to me.

I love how Mike and Libby both have on floppy hats…like father like daughter!  As you can see, Libby is still sporting the snaggle tooth.  My fingers are crossed that her tooth will have a mate soon!

Wheels on the bus…

This is by far Libby’s favorite song - she knows most of the hand motions and the last word to each stanza “tooooowwwwwne”.  This video doesn’t capture it, but she usually says town in a low voice and draws out the “ow”.

You’ll hear Nana singing the words on this video.  Nana was nice enough to come out and watch Libby when I was in Chicago.  Libby learned all kinds of new tricks while Nana was here including the wonders of the skinny cow and how delicious Dairy Queen can be before lunch time.  In the future I anticipate Libby standing and cheering when I have to go to Chicago or asking me to go away so Nana can come.

I’m back!

WOW - long time, no post.  The week of the July 14 I was up in Chicago and got very behind at work, at home and the blog has suffered!  I’m back and have lots to fill you in on!

We had a great weekend - I don’t think they get much better than this!  Friday Libby and I went with our Mom’s Group to the Zionsville Fire Station for a tour.  We had a fun time - Libby showed all the firemen her babydoll and blew them all kisses when we left!  That night we headed to our church for its annual festival and Libby tried her first inflateable bounce house.  She seemed to enjoy it, but didn’t stray far from the entrance or Mike.  I think she liked watching the other kids (all two of them and both close to her age) bounce.

Saturday we headed to the farmer’s market to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies.  I headed to yoga and Mike and Libby brought my car for its first oil change (what a treat for me!).

Saturday afternoon we were joined by the Pfisters and the Cartwright’s for dinner.  Libby and Reese played well together.  Libby had a minor melt down when Reese wanted to play with Bobby Doll (note for future play dates: keep Bobby Doll in Libby’s crib) and there were some tears over the rocking fish (which I made the mistake of bringing out) - the tears are going to be beneficial in the long run (I think) - Libby’s starting to learn more and more about sharing!

I ran some errands this morning, did some laundry.  We ate an early dinner and headed over to Lion’s Park for the last of their Sunday concert series.  We had a great time!  I thought for sure that we’d end up on the playground, but Libby sat on the blanket we set out.  She looked at books, played with little people, bubbles and entertained the (older) couples all around us!

I asked Mike to post some pics and he forgot,  you can look on his blog for a few pics from Sunday’s concert!

Christmas in July?

I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time.  Libby got this book from Nana last Christmas and was scared of the noise/song.  She happened upon it with Lauren today and did not put the book down for 3 hours. I have a feeling we are going to have a very fun Christmas in December.

Birthday fun!

I made a few requests of Mike for my 30th birthday….and all were met - it was a an awesome day!

I asked that he wake up with Libby and do the breakfast thing so I could sleep in - I slept until 9:30am!

I wanted to go out for lunch and thought Trader’s Point Creamery would be a fun spot.  I went there a year ago and Mike had never been.  We had a great time and a fantastic lunch that included homemade milkshakes.  Libby seemed to enjoy the cows and chickens we were able to get close to.

After lunch Mike and Libby dropped me off at the spa for a massage, pedicure and a little shopping.  It was quite relaxing and such a treat!

I came home to Libby’s first masterpiece.  Mike and Libby did a water color picture for me - so sweet!  Mike said Libby really seemed to enjoy the painting - I can’t wait to do it again.

We headed to church and then I wanted sushi for dinner.  While Mike went and got the sushi, I put Libby down for an early bedtime (she fell asleep in the car that afternoon and didn’t have a great nap).  It was a treat to give Libby a bath and put her to sleep (something Mike typically does).  Mike and I enjoyed a great sushi dinner on our deck!

I had a great day and can’t believe I am 30!  I must say it made my day when the girl (she was 20 so I can call her that) doing my nails thought I was in high school - LOL!

Long time - no post!

Libby and I had a busy few days. . .I took Wednesday and Thursday off and we had a blast with the Oskay Girls.  On Wednesday morning we headed to the Zoo.  Emmerson (2.5) was a great guide and full of useful knowledge (she knew all the animals names!).  We made our way around the zoo (Emmerson got to feed a giraffe!) and enjoyed a packed lunch together before heading over to the carousel.  I was really excited for Libby ride the carousel….Libby was not very excited.  After putting her on an animal next to Emmerson and Delanie (14 months - about 3 weeks younger than Libby) Libby started to fuss and reach for me.  So I spent the ride holding Libby who had a death grip around my neck.  Maybe next time we’ll try the train!

After the carousel we headed to the Dolphin show and that continues to be Libby’s favorite.  They changed the show since our last visit to the zoo and she loved the techno music and to watch the dolphin’s do their tricks…..she was clapping, dancing, whoooting and hollering!  I’m not sure if I had more fun watching her or the dolphins!

On Thursday we met the Oskay’s and headed to Edinburgh outlets.  I was a little nervous how Libby would do with a few hours of shopping - but she did great!  She loves watching Emme (who is always accessorized to the nines: bracelets, purse, umbrella, blankie and real flip flops!) and Dee Dee.  We found some great deals, grabbed a bite to eat and then headed back to our house. . . I don’t think I had the car turned on and Libby was fast asleep!

That night the Oskays’s came over for a pre-fourth of July bbq and Mike was in hog heaven having a house full of kids!  We had a great time eating and playing with all our girls!   During dessert we had the first of many birthday celebrations.  Jorie made me a beautiful platter using an Uppercase Living phrase (and Jason later hung it for us in our dinning room!) and she also got me a great pair of earrings that I’d admired a few weeks ago.   We put Jason to work again and he was able to help us install a dimmer that we had some trouble with (I know installing a dimmer sounds very easy, but Mike and a few other people had tried for some time and couldn’t get it right).

Thanks for a fun few days, Oskays…we’ll have to do it again soon!

P.S. I’ll post some pictures tonight….
