Pie, Anyone?
Does anyone have a good shepard’s pie recepe out there? I lost a bet (on a technicality) and I owe Mike some shepards pie. I’ve never made it and can use any recipes/advice.

Shannon,
This is a good one from Real Simple magazine:
Shepherd’s Pie
1 ½ lbs. ground turkey
1 pkg. chicken gravy (i.e., Knorr’s)
1 10 oz. pkg. frozen baby peas, thawed
1 large package prepared mashed potatoes (i.e., Simply Potatoes)**
¼ - ½ c. grated pecorino romano cheese
Brown turkey until no longer pink. Stir in gravy mix and one cup water, cooking until mixture is slightly thickened. Add the peas. Lightly grease a 9 inch square baking dish and put meat mixture in the bottom. Top with the mashed potatoes and grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbling.
*I sometimes add a little white wine for a more “upscale” flavor..
I think Libby will enjoy it, too!

Wow, maybe what we have been eating for 50 years isn’t really Shepards Pie….
1 lb Hamburg, sauted w/onion
1 Can Corn or Creamed Corn
Mashed potatoes, real or boxed, whatever you prefer…
In a caserole put the hamburg on the bottom, add corn 2nd and top w/mashed potatoes
Bake 350 for 30-40 minutes
I’m sure there are several variations!
