A picture for Bob

thank-you-bob_blog.jpg

A good family friend sent this outfit for Libby and I promised him I’d post a picture so he can see it. Now we just have to get Libby ready for a long plane ride to San Francisco so she can meet Bob!

Update #2: We had a pretty good night last night, too. A little fussiness, but nothing too bad!

Update

We had a great night last night – no fussing/colic!  I hope this is not a one time thing because I feel great today and think Libby does too!  Keep your fingers crossed for another good night tonight.

Colic: real or a myth?

Week 2 – 3 brought about a hard reality in the Barron house:  Libby screams every night from about 10 pm – midnight or 11 pm – 1 am.  Her arms are flailing and her knees at her chest.  She’s impossible to sooth or console. . .sometimes she likes to be held, other times she is happier laying in her crib with you patting her stomach.  A lot of books have indicated this is colic while others point fingers to other diagnosis (over tired, etc).  It got me thinking – is colic a term used to describe babies going through a fussy period?  Is it an excuse?

10 or 11 pm is the most difficult time of the day, especially because (1) it’s when I am typically ready to get a few hours of rest and (2) my Mom has been working the late shift with Libby and she left today (I am not sure how we’ll ever repay her for everything she did while she was here)!  Tonight will be a big test for Mike and I!  If there’s a bright side to these “fits” it would be the fact that when Libby finally does get to sleep, she sleeps for 5-6 hours, gets up to eat and sleeps for another long period of time.

Libby is perfect for the other 20 or so hours in the day, it’s just this period at night that causes her problems.
