Some fun things on the interweb

funky_computer.gifFree tea from Yogi Tea I just received my free sample of the Especially for Women collection, there are many free samples to chose from.

Line Rider.com Our 7 year old friend Briggs introduced us to this site - it’s fun!

Piperlime.com A shoe site brought to you by the same rich people that bring you Banana, Gap and Old Navy.  I initially thought the site carried the shoes you’ll find at those stores, but turns out they carry name brand shoes and lots of them!

Mamma Mia the Movie

mammamia.jpgI was excited to learn they are turning one of my favorite Broadway Shows into a movie: Mamma Mia.  I was even more excited to learn that Meryl Streep has signed on to play Donna Sheridan (Sophie’s mom) in the movie.  I think it’s a perfect fit and look forward to learning more about the movie (including who else will star in it and when it will be released).

Congrats to Ms. Streep on her win at the Globes tonight.  If you haven’t seen The Devil Wears Prada rent it today.  P.S what is up with Dream Girls?  only playing in 800 theatres?  That’s what Jamie Foxx said - can that be true?  I haven’t heard much about it other than the hype around all the nominations. . . my Mom saw it and liked it.  Has anyone else seen it?

Quick and easy applesauce

applesauce01.gifMike and I are big fans of pork tenderloin.  Growing up we always had applesauce with pork chops, pork tenderloin, etc.  For some reason I always forget to buy applesauce, tonight was no exception.  We had a great dinner of pork tenderloin, good rice and broccoli but I noticed something was missing - the applesauce!  One of my Mom’s good friends Kathy shared a quick and easy recipe with me a while ago. . .the problem - I couldn’t find it and my meal was getting cold.

I did remember one thing - peel and sliced apples and microwave for 3 minutes.  I did that - took them out of the microwave, smashed/stirred around with a fork, added a dash of cinnimon and sugar and Voila!  I had excellent applesauce and healthy, too!  I am going to do this from now on - it’s great - you can make as much or as little as you want.  I think this will be great for babies too!

Back . . .Alive. . .Busy

I hope everyone had a happy holiday season and that you are staying healthy.  We had a great holiday with Mike’s family in West Lafayette.  The whole crowd came home and we had them over for dinner one night; it was a lot of fun.  I introduced everyone to the wonders of Tastefully Simple: the almond pound cake and poppy seed dressing specifically.

We hosted a New Years bash and had a great time.  I need to get Cooper’s recipe for Thai Chicken rolls and post it - they are always a crowd pleaser and a unique appetizer.

Other things that happened since my last post:

- I entered my third and final trimester. . .I am 32 weeks/8 mo pregnant!  Hard to believe how fast the last 32 weeks have gone.

- Mike posted pics from my Fall European extravaganza: Sitges, Rome and Venice

- The greatest basketball coach ever, General Robert Montgomery Knight became the all time wins leader.  Congratulations, Coach Knight!  To honor the General ESPN put togehter their Top Ten Coach Knight soundclips.  Warning: there are lots of bleeps.

I hope to start the third week of the New Year with more consistent posts, but I am swamped at work until February 2.
