Who knew?

teapot.jpgAs a fan of tea (both hot and iced) I found this article on cnn.com to be most interesting: there is only one tea plantation in North America and it is in Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina (outside of Charleston).  The tea they harvest there is marketed as American Classic Tea.  I can’t wait to try some.

The article also goes on to explain you can visit the plantation, take tours, etc - I am going to have to add this to my list of things to see and do.

The Break Up – not a kids movie

breakup_small.jpgWent to see the Break up this weekend with Heather and Bob.  It was entertaining (how can Vince Vaughn *not* be entertaining?) and I liked the concept of the anti-romantic comedy.  The ending was unusual and I can only hope it leads to a sequal that is also filmed in our fair City.

Mike and I got to the theatre early to ensure good seats and I was alarmed at the number of parents that brought children to see the movie.  There were so many kids in the theatre, I left at one point to make sure Mike and I hadn’t walked into Cars by mistake (we hadn’t).  Most of the kids that were in the theatre were under 2 and I must say for the most part, they were quiet.  Most of the kids were asleep when the movie ended after 10:30 pm.  With the price of movie tickets these days, I can only imagine that it has to be cheaper to get a babysitter!

Summer drinks

umbrella drink.jpgWith warm weather here to stay, my thoughts have turned to some of my favorite summer drinks. I am a margaritta girl all year round, but in the summer I often turn to another one of my favorite lime inspired drinks: Skip and Go Naked:

1 can frozen lime aid concentrate, 1 bottle/can of beer, 1 can Sprite, 1/2 limeaid can of vodka, 1.5 limeaid can of water. Blend. Adjust vodka:water ratio to desired strength.

A new find . . .

covergirl.gifAfter the Orioles game last Sunday, I found myself in the kitchen with my Mom and Aunt discussing important matters like eye lash curlers, lipstick, and moisturizer.  My Mom and Aunt were complaining about eyelash curlers that don’t curl and I recommended the Sonia Kushak model from Target.  My Mom shared her new favorite lipstick with us, Covergirl’s Outlast Smoothwear.  This stuff is amazing – it does not come off!  The lipstick easily lasts 8 – 10 hours (if not more) and comes with a moisturizing stick for when your lips get dry.

I had a hard time finding the right color (I purchased berry satin, but I think it’s too bright).  Today I noticed the Covergirl website can colormatch you to pick the best shade that matches your complexition.  According to the colormatch, I should have bought Plum Satin or Soft Blush Satin.

Back from DC

We’re back from DC with lots of stories and pictures to share as soon as we’re caught up, unpacked and settled!

Alison and Matt found a neat article on my Dad that I thought I’d share.  Who knew Matt read Richmond’s paper?! :)
